Last week Year 6 went the Art Gallery. It was great to be in groups and using the IPads to take photos. Some of Colin McCahon's artwork was at the gallery. He was one of the most famous New Zealand artists. Room 2’s favourite pieces were, the Maori portraits by Charles F. Goldie,Tinfoil Meteorites which had some beads and fake gems.

“And the winner for the 2017 speech finals is …” It was a great 5 weeks of careful planning, working hard and making awesome speeches, the best they could be. Many people worked hard on their speeches but only two people in each class could get into the finals. In our class Anna and Xavier got into the finals and Xavier came first out of every speech finalist. Way to go Xavier!

IBL

This term our topic for IBL is Lightening the Load. Ms Vahry has got 3 problems and it is up to the Year 6 classes to solve them.

The three problems are:

• She has to carry six two litre milk bottles to the staff room twice every week
• Carrying crackers and tissues every week with not enough arms
• Trying to lug paper around on a broken trolley

For these problems we need to come up with a solution and we need to make sure that the model will work. Here are some photos down below of us in action!
